The Office of Angela Scott

All of our shoes are Goodyear welted. Goodyear Welt construction is one of the oldest, most traditional shoe crafting techniques. This method of stitching the soles to the uppers with a welt is durable, breathable, and inherently sustainable as it also allows the shoe to be dismantled, repaired and resoled and ultimately last you a lifetime.

We believe in producing ethical, timeless, high quality shoes that prioritize craftsmanship, materials and construction over trend, and in turn reduce landfill waste and fast fashion consumption. All of our shoes are handmade using the finest Italian leathers and textiles that are hand selected to ensure premium quality. We know exactly where our leather comes from and we have personal relationships with all of our Italian leather suppliers to ensure that the leather we use is a by-product of the meat industry and mildly tanned or vegetable tanned in strict compliance with environmentally-friendly regulations.

SwanDoe

SwanDoe started with a goal to simplify women's lives with simple, beautiful and functional bags. To reduce waste, many of our items are not made until ordered by you. Our productions are hand crafted and done in small batches, allowing our customers to truly own an exclusive, limited-edition work of art. To further our efforts in creating a more collaborative and thriving community, we also support charitable organizations that aim to benefit children and families in need. We are proud to have donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and A Union of Golden Hearts

Founder, Xuan Commagere's love of drawing handbags on napkins led her to study the art of leather crafting under an Hermès master artisan. Upon graduation, she took her love for art and fashion into creating an offering of luxurious handbag staples women can depend on. After more than a decade of working toward a successful conventional career in Tech + Fashion, taking what she gleaned from the industry to create her own brand that reflects a slower pace and process; where things are made with care and detail, where tradition is valued over trend and there is a purpose to every piece.

SCHAI

My philosophy for sustainability is a bit different from most people— I utilize “less is more” type of concept — selling only to the small business, responsible high-end boutiques in the US, and selling directly to the consumer, allowing the customer to select their own product, size, color (ie. “special orders”). I try to keep low carbon imprint on the environment and society by keeping the work in the USA at a family-owned manufacturing with small-batch, high-quality model, and also using mostly natural materials that are also made in small quantity mills.

SCHAI brand stands for quality that lasts for decades along with timeless yet current (not trendy) designs & details, which reduce the practice of quick-fix/ fast-fashion consumerism in the long run. Many of my customers realize how “worth it” is to invest in something of a quality and versatility, which helps her not having to buy new things every season. Even if you get 100% organic cotton products, it takes hundreds of gallons of water to make one organic T shirt, which isn’t really that sustainable if you really think about it. Regardless of what it is, everything done in a smaller way will reduce our carbon imprint. And a good design and great quality should last forever. In the world of excess and easy accessibility, SCHAI’s philosophy and strategy is to design and produce purposefully, in a smaller, thoughtful ways that will make lasting impression and lasting wardrobe choice in the customer’s lifestyle (and the generations after).

Micaela Greg

Our mission at Micaela Greg is to create garments in an ethical manner by paying our workers a fair wage, creating timeless garments, and using natural textiles whenever possible. Our knitwear is made by experienced knitters based in Lima Peru & the US. It is fully fashioned, meaning each piece is knit to the exact shape so there is no left over material waste. Our cut & sew wovens are produced in partnership with local factories in Northern California. This is essential to our design and development process and informs the way we choose to do business.

Micaela Greg is a knitwear label founded by San Francisco based sisters, Marie and Karen Potesta. The collection is comprised of super soft knits that emphasize impeccable craft, and timeless modernity while capturing a lighthearted downtown attitude. The sisters focus on designing quality, made to last garments with American manufacturing at the heart of the brand.

The majority of the collection is proudly made in the US, and constructed of the finest quality Italian yarns with the softest hand feel. A small number of pieces are made in Peru in Fair Trade factories using Alpaca yarns from the local vendors. There is an importance placed on working with local knitters and seamstresses, drawing on their expertise while supporting local industries and art forms.

Jujumade

Jujumade is based in LA, most of our pieces are hand sculpted and assembled in our own studio. We work with small production sewers in LA to make our hats and bags, but we always finish (attached ceramic parts and handles) in our studio before they are shipped out.

Ceramics are typically stationary and utilitarian, jujumade breaks away from this mould and transforms ceramics into wearable pieces that is both sculptural and playful. Pieces can be worn in multiple ways, allowing the owner to experiment and find their own look.

Ceramics has always been one of the main materials we work, unfired clay can always be remixed and used again. Our first collection of ceramic feet on our bags and tiny earrings were all created from leftover clay at our ceramic studio. I didn't want to waste the trimmed bits of clay so I decide to cut them into little shapes for our earrings, and the bigger chunks got wedged into little disc for our bag feet. I love the idea of mixing different mediums and using them in unconventional ways. That is something we continue to explore each season!

Jenni Kayne

At Jenni Kayne, we are so proud to be a company lead by and made up of innovative women with an interest in living well, and leaving each place better than we found it. Sustainability is extremely important to us as a brand, and we are on a mission to eliminate waste both in our stores and manufacturing.

We've recently implemented a new store model in several of our locations, our Jenni Kayne showrooms. In our showroom locations, all merchandise you see is a sample, and sales associates assist customers in placing orders for their selections, making our showrooms paperless environments. Under this model, we are able to keep one centralized inventory which enables us to produce goods in quantities based on amounts we typically sell per season instead of quantities needed to stock stores, thus eliminating excess product at the end of the season. We are still in the early stages of this store model but hope to be able to apply it to more locations in the future, further reducing our environmental impact."
